Steering rack

I have discovered that what i thought was a worn inner rack ball joint is actually movement between the rack and its housing. I am therefore now looking for a replacement. What is the experience of 'reconditioned' racks? What is the reconditioning process and does it actually replace/recondition worn major components or is it simply seals and a spray job?
Am I better to look for a good one off a scrap vehicle?
Many thanks

Oil filter change

I have a 2004 1.9 dti and I'm looking to change the oil and filter.

Had a quick look at the weekend at access to the filter as the belt type tool I had when I worked on my Mrs Corsa suffered due to very limited access.

It would appear Vauxhall wanted to make 2004 oil filters as difficult to get out as possible as the vivaro looks pretty difficult to get any type of tool in and enough movement.

Could anyone confirm what removal tool they have used please? I was looking at the caps that...

please can someone help.....I have a 2006 Vauxhall vivaro, I've got a fault that no garage can fix and I'm already 1k into the problem......when I'm driving it can run perfect then all of a sudden starts to lose power, doesn't go above 3000 revs, its in limp mode without any warning lights, it can then pick up after 5 mins or less or longer, happens almost at every junction, so it's causing me a massive problem and no one can seem to figure it out, this is what if had done on the van..........

Vivaro banded steel wheels?

Hi all, been a little while!

For those who know me historically, they already know me as a wheel nerd amongst other things, so have been experimenting with many aftermarket and bmw wheel fitments, and buying and selling wheel and tyre combos to vivaro/movano owners for a while.

My own Viv is currently on its 4th different set, and settled nicely on 3sdm 18" wheels, and so for a long time my original 6j steelies have been sat doing nothing, and it's high time that changed.

I've been...

I wonder if anyone can help

A friend of mine has fit a diesel MK2 Clio speedo into his Trafic in order to take advantage of the full trip computer options. Only when he plugs in the Clio speedo the SERV light is lit. No codes come up using a reader and the service reset method (pumping brake 3 times etc) doesn't work. Any ideas on getting the light off

Van was fine and is fine if the original speedo is put back

Hi Guys

I've got an oldie (2002 1.9 Primastar), with some of the usual issues, and the glowplug/elec issue warning light on at the moment.
I thought I could plug my OBD 2 in to get some fault readings, however seems not to be the case - nothing !

Can anyone help point me in the direction of a reasonably priced reader that's works with our system - which is what ?

Thanks guys
Any help appreciated.

Hi all, my vivaro which I have had for 4 years has been getting progressively worse with electrical faults and poor running, it wouldnt rev on start up, go into no revs sometimes, other times ran like it was on kangaroo juice with the fuel system /electrical fault flashing.
On the diagnostic it said , faulty throttle sensor, I replaced that, I also replaced the fuel filter assembly.
After reading on here I have cleaned the Multi plug in the bottom of the fuse box under the coolant tank,...

Hi all,

I have a 2004 2.5 CDTI and I'm having problems starting.

I have looked trough all the posts on here and have found a lot off information but my issue seams slightly different.

Basically when I try starting the vehicle is turns over fine but doesn't fire. If I use a little bit off easy start it will fire up and run perfect all day until until it is turned off. (I know easy start isn't great for the engine) One it's been started I can turn it off and It will re start straight away...

Hey,

So I have this problems where theres a rumble/vibration from when I go over 2500 rpm all the way up to 4200 rpm, its most obvious in 2nd and 3rd but can be heard in 1st as well, probably happens in 4th and 5th but wind noise probably cancels it out.

The best way I could describe the sound is like a heavy concrete atlas ball slowly rolling down the back of the van, its a horrible sound which seems pretty serious.

The engine puts out a fair bit of smoke as well if that may be linked...

hi everyone.
Have a problem with the van.
The power steering on My 2010 2.0 CDti has went.
I started it up last night and went to pull out of a car park on full lock when I heard the belt squeal then the steering got heavy.
Their is no leaks from any of the hoses and the fluid is at the max line.
My question is this?
Is it the pump or the rack as both are fairly expensive and a pain to replace.
Is their a test that can be done to see if it is the pump or the steering rack.
Only have it a...

So I bit the bullet and replaced my 2007 Sportive with a new Bi-Turbo 140ps Sportive. I haven't done much to it yet other than ply line out and insulate the back, mud flaps, cab mats and seat covers, oh and some 18" alloys. It is mainly for work but I use it for mountain biking excursions all over the UK. I will be working on some sort of removable bunk type thing as well as a secondary electrical system for a few lights and phone charger point....

Hi guys, I'm in need of advise.

I have a 2004 Renault Trafic 2.5 dci (6 speed) with a fubar'd water pump ( internal bearing seal leaking through).

I've got the water pump unmounted from the block with the drive cog removed as per another thread on here yet I can't seam to squeeze the loose water pump out from the housing. It is fouling against the chassis member. I have slackened off the lower engine vibration mount and using a strop pulled the engine over which has given me about another...

vauxhall vivaro problem

Hi all
I'm new to the forum, looking for any advice I can get regarding my 2005 Vauxhall vivaro, the van is fine when driving along on the flat but as soon as it climbs a hill the van starts surging not a major ammount but it is noticeable, it feels as though there is a limiter kicking in but it's not speed related as it happens in every gear when the engine is working hard.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks Gavin
