Stiff gear change - Solved

PROBLEM
The gear change in my Vivaro was getting more difficult and just became harder and harder to get into the gears. It started with fourth and then over a few days I found it more and more difficult to get into the other gears as well.

If you find yours is the same, and do not experience 'crunching' which would indicate a clutch problem, you can solve it with a simple fix.

SOLUTION
On top of the gearbox is the gear change lever operated by the cable from the gear lever...

Vivaro none start

So my van cut out and will only start if the prime bulb is being pumped, once it starts its pulling air through you can see air bubbles being pulled from the filter to the pump. it wont bleed to the point where fuel comes out the bleed nipple on the filter either.

Anyone have any idea what this could be? also there was no pressure in the bleed bulb until i poured some diesel into the pipe, seems ok now though.

Thanks,
Dan

Renault Trafic intermittent heavy steering and not straightening up - fix

first post so why not start it with a helper.

2003 trafic 1.9, been having issues with steering. Intermittently going heavy especially turning right, then not self centering.

First port of call, power steering pump. Looked old and manky so replaced it. Made it a bit better but far from right.

Was about to go for a new rack and thought.... this feels more like something jamming.

Hi everyone. Recently joined and have scoured the forum looking for previous answers but with no success.
Im stuck with a difficult decision. Yesterday I bought a 2013 (Mk 1), 2.0 CDTi sportive SWB for £8,000. It has 84,000 miles on the clock, but a fuzzy service history after 4th service. Dealer says he has receipts from owner etc. Which he will dig out... Anyway I asked after cam belt replacement etc. & he said they have a chain & dont need replacing. Ive read this forum & now know...

Vivaro (2015) Radiator Hose Failure

Recently experienced coolant loss on a 2015 Vivaro, and closer inspection revealed that the lower radiator hose had been in contact with the gearbox housing and which had caused the hose to fail. Attached photo was taken lying on my back looking up into the narrow space between the engine/gearbox and the radiator, and maybe isn't the clearest, but hopefully gives some indication where the problem originated from?? The vehicle was less than 3-years old and the hose assembly was replaced under...

Hi I've got a 53plate swb 1.9dti vauxhall vivaro which i cannot get to start. A couple of weeks ago i went to start the van it turned over but wouldn't start.
I called out the AA they looked the van over and found the engine wasnt getting any fuel, it started briefly with some easy start but then died again. They said it mite be a problem with the lift pump in the tank. They then tried to connect to the ecu with there kit but said they couldnt get a connection, then stated that some body...

Best accessories for 2001 - 2014 Vivaro?

Hi all, wondered what folks had picked up over the years for their Vivaros & thought they were really great additions, or, aftermarket additions that were above spec that they really now can't do without (e.g. Sat Nav, or hands free systems).

Looking to jazz up the van I'll pick up next week so was looking for a few ideas?

Might get ply pigeon hole cabinets & faux leather seat covers that look very tidy.

Cheers(y)

Hi all, just picked up my new (well new to me), van! (y)

Seems to have a factory fitted BT bluetooth stereo (CD30 perhaps reading other posts???), but dont know how to check or find model #.

Anyway, tried to pair phone (Galaxy S7), and although stereo screen says launch bluetooth connection from phone and enter pin # blah blah, when I scan for bluetooth devices on my phone it doesnt pick anything up??

Ive paired numerous devices together in the past & not seen this sort of issue.

Vivaro 2.0 EGR cooler Bypass valve seized

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help, I have taken off the EGR valve to clean it and found that it wasn't that dirty, not as dirty as some people have described theirs as. On further investigation i found what the manual refers to as the EGR bypass valve, seized.
This valve sits within the cast iron part of the EGR cooler below the inlet manifold and is operated by a vacuum actuator mounted to the cast iron part of the cooler.
The valve itself was seized (ive managed to free it slightly) but...

Hi guys

Sorry if this has already been discussed but I can't find anything through the search function.

I have a 2010 Renault trafic with the updated radio and surround, due to a bodge job of someone replacing a broken fascia it's always looked a mess so I decided to treat myself to a 2din head unit and reversing camera etc, however I can't seem to find an ISO adapter specifically for this model of van but the one for the older trafic doesn't look like it will fit this one, has anyone done...

New van owner with strange noise

Hi names David just joined and recently bought a 07 primastar, very happy with it so far has 62,000 miles service history and looks well looked after but did have a couple of questions.
When I go from 1st into 2nd when I get to around 15mph there is a very slight whirring/whine noise only lasts a couple of seconds then gone, doesn’t happen in any other gear or neutral or any other road speed only in 2nd at around 15-20 mph and only if I’m accelerating slowly sometimes doesn’t do it at all....

Hey all, thought i'd try on here before taking my van in to garage.

I've had issues with starting for last 2 years, had to run glow plugs several times. It's got worse more recently and was not starting on 4 cylinders. I replaced a couple of the glow plugs but still need to do the other 2. was starting with a cloud of smoke but after 10 seconds or so it was OK and running sweet. Then a couple of weeks ago the glow plug light started flashing intermittently.

This morning i go to start it...

Electric question.

My work/fishing van is just about kitted out now, it just needs painting inside. Very basic, bed on hinges and a removable cupboard. I have always used a battery pack for my needs in the back as I only stay away fo one to four nights but I am now thinking of a split charger, leasure battery and an inverter. as I am getting more stuff to charge including some 12v and 18v batterys.
I don't want to go mad and install a top of the range state of the art system just a basic one.

What do you...

Completely different engine and gearbox in a vivaro/trafic

So just a crazy idea I've been thinking on for a while....

Ideally I'd like an automatic van, I spend a lot of time in traffic and I generally love an auto for normal driving (for a track I would always want a manual but thats a whole different argument). Having looked into it a little bit I'd probably only go for a transporter or Vito in auto and the size I want but they're (in my opinion) very over priced, so instead I thought why not look to stick the engine and gearbox from a decent car...

Van Juddering, Engine & Stop Light On

Hi Everyone,

(Please forgive for my lack of technical terms )

We have a Renault Traffic 2007 1.9 dci van which is juddering/jerking whilst driving. When it starts the engine and stop light flash up and then disappear.

We took it to a local garage who hooked it up and came back with a faulty injector code. He suggested giving it a terraclan and replacing the fuel filter - done - still having the same problems so said it's time to replace the injector's. At £2400+VAT we decided to...
