Vivaro 2004 1.9tdi - Power loss

Seems to be lacking power intermittently, like the turbo isn't cutting in. It will go like the clappers for a good ten minutes drive, then seems to `lose interest`.
EGR valve and sensor have been changed, this has definitely helped but it still loses power on a journey.
Also MAF sensor changed (clutch switch seems ok). Garage couldn't find any fault codes.
Ive had this back to the garage 4 times and its really not getting any better - any ideas would be appreciated!

Reversing light fuse?

I just bought a 2001 Movano to use as a simple, summer camper for my young family. It didn't have an MOT when I bought it and it just failed when I put it through, though not on anything horrific. Simple ball joints, track rod end, tyres etc. Also on the rear lights. I think the main reason is simply bad connections possibly linked to some pretty crude splicing of the electrics to feed a twin plug tow bar set-up (which otherwise I was happy to have). I'm starting to go through and look at...

New to the forum & looking for common faults / problems on 1.9 engines

Hi,

I'm a newbie to the forum, so I wanted to say hi.

I'm hoping to pick up a 2003 1.9 Vivaro Sportive which has covered 70k from its single owner (from new). It seems very clean, but trying to trawl through all the Threads to try and find the main problems / faults on the vans is very time consuming.

I'm hoping to become a regular user of the forum (as I am on various other car / bike / electrical forums) to further my knowledge on the vans and to help others whilst converting / using...

Timing belt/chain

Hi

Sorry if this has been asked a million times but I'm on my phone so it's hard to look through

I've got a 2004 movano 2.5 cdti and I'm unsure if it has a chain or not.

I had some work done about 2 years ago (can't remember what it was) and the garage said I have a timing chain rather than a belt. So I thought happy days.

Now I had some other work done last week and the guy at the garage said it has a belt. But that's only from looking on some website.

So... Question is, is there a...

Vivaro banded steel wheels?

Hi all, been a little while!

For those who know me historically, they already know me as a wheel nerd amongst other things, so have been experimenting with many aftermarket and bmw wheel fitments, and buying and selling wheel and tyre combos to vivaro/movano owners for a while.

My own Viv is currently on its 4th different set, and settled nicely on 3sdm 18" wheels, and so for a long time my original 6j steelies have been sat doing nothing, and it's high time that changed.

I've been...

Smell in cabin

I'm trying to track down a chemical smell in the cabin. I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction.

The van was pretty grubby when I picked it up but I gave everything a deep clean, bar pulling up the cab flooring.

The seats and roof I carpet vacd.

If I park the van up and leave if for only 3/4 hours and open the door I can smell it. I've never owned a diesel before so I can't be 100% sure if it is diesel. I can't find no leaks.

The thing that's confusing me about this...

Replacing plastic hoses

Hey guys.

Later this week I'm going to be fitting a catch can to my breather pipe and having it connected back into the inlet hose, something which without the catch can was making the van sound rough.

Whether at the same time or just at some point over the next couple of weeks I plan on removing all the air intake, intercooler and turbo hoses and cleaning them all and checking for any cracks or splits. One thing I was surprised at was the use of several solid plastic hoses rather than...
